Digital Communities Solutions Starter Kit

As part of the Digital Communities initiative, Intel, Cisco, Panasonic, Intermec and Accela are launching a new program – the Digital Communities Solution Starter Kit. The Kits are designed to be complete end-to-end, turnkey solutions to enable municipalities to launch wired and wireless applications simply and easily.

Developed in partnership with some of the most trusted names in technology, each Starter Kit offers a complete tried and tested package to implement a specific municipal solution.

Digital Communities solutions are built on a three-tier architecture to take advantage of powerful network and computing technologies for delivering applications and services to a wide range of client devices. These consists of wireline and wireless broadband hardware, a service-oriented architecture (SOA) ensuring such things as secure access, geospatial information and location-based services and intelligent routing, and finally, a specific municipal application such as land management software.

As part of the Digital Communities Solution Starter Kit program, the first end-to-end solution that is being offered is the land management solution, which helps improve service to citizens by reducing the time it takes to obtain planning, building, utility, land use, and inspection approvals. Other solutions focused on public safety, video surveillance, e-ticketing, criminal justice, etc. will be rolled out in months to come.
