MediaCityUK is an innovative and creative hub at Salford Quays. MediaCityUK will be the country’ s first digital and creative community; the UK’ s first media city. MediaCityUK is expected to become synonymous with innovation and creativity. It will have the energy to attract new and emerging companies alongside internationally renowned residents like the BBC.
Anchor tenant the BBC will relocate five London-based departments to the Quays. 2.500 BBC staff based at MediaCityUK by 2011.
MediaCity’ s location at the Salford Quays places it at the heart of Manchester’ s waterfront. The development is within minutes of the motorway network and less than four miles outside the Manchester city centre.
The development will ultimately span a 200-acre site, creating seven million square feet of business, residential and retail floorspace. MediaCityUK will provide employment for over 15,000 people, and provide opportunities for more than 1,000 businesses. Phase one is due to open in 2011.
