The Municipality of Ioannina and the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, are organising the Ioannina Hackathon 2019. Ioannina Hackathon 2019 is a contest for the development and creation of applications that will address the real needs of Ioannina city, upgrade the quality of life of citizens and visitors, and enhance the city’ s digital transformation. Its aim is to introduce innovation to the Municipality’ s and City’ s structures and enhance the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem. Ioannina Hackathon 2019 will take place on 10 – 12 May 2019 at the Science & Technology Park of Epirus, in the University’ s Campus. The thematic areas included in the Hackathon are the following:
1. Sustainable mobility ‘“ Transport
2. Tourism-Culture
3. Health-Wellness
4. Citizens’ everyday routine
5. Building infrastructure ‘“ Energy
Application form, by individuals or teams up to 4 members, can be submitted by High School and University students, academics, start-upers, developers, professionals. Also, by anyone dealing with technology and willing to be involved in the development and commercial exploitation of new products/services. The participation is free of charge.
The proposals should be completed solutions/services related to the 4 selected thematic areas, and can be either:
‘¢ a new idea
‘¢ an idea in a development phase
‘¢ a developed project without a finalised solution
‘¢ a partially developed technical solution with a proposal for the final solution
The teams of the best three (3) proposals will be rewarded with items (laptops, tablets, cellular phones etc.) of value of 2000 euros, 1000 euros and 500 euros.
Additionally, in the framework of Ioannina Hackathon 2019, parallel activities will be organised (GreenHouse Workshop) aiming to: i) encourage youngsters to get involved with entrepreneurship and ii) enhance the entrepreneurial attitude and thinking in general. The experts collaborating with the Entrepreneurial Centre of the American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) will implement start-up workshops in which the participants will be trained on: a) how to create their own start up, b) how to proceed from an idea to action, c) how to develop an innovation culture in their enterprise, d) how to define the cost structure of their services/products, e) what will their marketing strategy be, and f) where to find sources of finance and partners.
