With the concept of “15-Minute City’ gaining ground in popular media following the impacts of COVID19 and its subsequent adoption at policy level, the present paper introduces the concept, its origins, intent and future directions. The concept, offering a novel perspective of “chrono-urbanism’, adds to the existing thematic of Smart Cities and the rhetoric of building more humane urban fabrics and safer, more resilient, sustainable and inclusive cities, as depicted in the Sustainable Development Goal 11 of the United Nations.
IntellIoT is a Pan-European Research and Innovation project supported by the European Commission. It is focused on intelligent, autonomous, and human-centered healthcare solutions. With the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, patients with cardiovascular diseases will be treated remotely. The 3-year project also aims to support the rollout of IoT technologies in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
Co-Aps is a mobile application used to manage density in public transport and public spaces amid the COVID19 pandemic. Pilots have been implemented in the cities of Barcelona, Istanbul, Sofia and Karditsa.
“COVID Community Data Lab” is a research project focused on the analysis of data that can support an equitable recovery amid the 2020 pandemic in the US context. The project gathers and analyses data from creative sources and exposes the inequalities that Boston communities face as a result of COVID19.
