This report by the European Data Portal, investigates the Open Data Initiatives in eight medium-sized European cities: Dublin, Florence, Gdansk, Ghent, Helsinki, Thessaloniki and Vilnius. Overall, this report shows that not only Europe’ s most prominent cities like Barcelona and Paris – as featured in a previous report of the same entity – are maturing on their Open Data journey, but that also medium-sized cities are taking bold steps on their Open Data journey.

It combines cutting-edge research with innovative interactive mapping techniques, designed to appeal to anyone with an interest in American history and more generally in cartography. The Digital Scholarship Lab at the University of Richmond has produced a series of incredible online tools that compose an historical atlas of the United States of the last century. The Chronicle of Higher Education already recognized this project in 2016 as one of nine tech innovators for 2016.
Open Governance in the Smart City is a scoping report providing an overview of the variety of approaches local governments and communities can take to ICT enabled open governance. Through eleven cases, 9 european and 2 non-european cities, the report also discusses risks and challenges, concluding with a number of recommendations.
